What a holiday party DJ costs in Raleigh

An extra hour is $300. Travel is included up to 90 driving miles from Raleigh, which covers Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Greensboro and Greenville.
Budgets are tighter than they used to be. In its 2024 holiday party survey, outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas found 64% of companies were planning a celebration, and 17% planned to spend less than the year before. That makes it worth knowing exactly what each price includes before you sign.
When to book
As soon as you have a date and a venue. December Fridays and Saturdays are the most requested nights of the year for event vendors, so the earlier you check, the more choice you have.
If December is already tight, January is a good option. Plenty of companies hold their party after the holidays, when calendars open up and nobody is splitting the night with three other parties.
Eight questions to ask any holiday party DJ
Ask these before you sign with anyone, us included. Each one comes with what a good answer sounds like.
- Can you invoice the company? You want a real invoice, a deposit to hold the date and the balance after the event. We take a 50% retainer with a signed contract, then invoice the rest after the party on net 30 terms.
- Can you send a W9 and a certificate of insurance? Many venues ask for insurance paperwork before load in. We send both on request.
- Will you work from our run of show and stop on time? A good DJ plans around your schedule, not the other way around. We work to your run of show and hold a hard end time.
- How do you handle names on the mic? Executive names and award winners should be written down and confirmed before the day, not guessed live.
- Do setup and teardown come out of our hours? They shouldn’t. With us, your booked hours are service hours.
- Can the lighting match our brand colors? Ask whether the uplights are included or extra. Ours come in the Gala and Ultimate packages, set to your colors.
- What will the setup look like in photos? Look for a clean booth with no DJ company banners. Our setup is all white, and our branding stays out of your pictures.
- Who exactly shows up? You should know your DJ’s name before the night, not meet a stranger at load in. Your DJ is named in your contract.
Your company’s name belongs on the walls. Ours doesn’t.
Do we need a phone call?
Not with us. Once you book, a planning questionnaire covers the run of show, the names, the cues and everything we would ask on a call. Book it and be done.
